From Losing Everything to a New Job: How Our Community Came Together

Sometimes you set out to help someone through one difficult moment, and somehow it turns into something much bigger.

Recently, FK Love Foundation and FK Your Diet learned about a local Southwest Florida family whose apartment had flooded and become uninhabitable because of water damage and mold. They had lost virtually everything and were trying to start over.

So we did what we do.

Amy, Tammy, and Ron got to work helping the family get back on their feet—providing groceries, helping with some of the basic things they needed, and making sure their new place started to feel like home again.

But that isn’t where this story ends.

An Unexpected Opportunity

While Amy was helping the family, the woman mentioned that she had experience grooming dogs and was looking for work.

We didn't think much of it at the time. After all, we don't exactly have a lot of connections in the dog-grooming world.

Then, just a few days later, completely out of the blue, we received a text from one of our customers introducing us to someone from Guardians of Florida Animal Rescue.

They were looking for reliable, hardworking people to help care for the roughly 200 dogs at their shelter.

What are the chances?

The woman we had just helped—the woman who happened to be looking for work with dogs—was suddenly connected with a local animal rescue that happened to need help.

And today...

She started working at the shelter.

That’s What Community Is All About

Miracle? Coincidence? Right place at the right time?

We don’t know.

We’re just grateful that FK Love Foundation, FK Your Diet, and people in our community got to be a small part of her story.

What started with helping a Southwest Florida family recover from a devastating situation became something more. They needed groceries and basic necessities. They needed help getting settled into a new home. And then, completely unexpectedly, an opportunity came along for this mom to get back to work doing something she already knew how to do.

Sometimes helping someone with one problem opens a door you never even knew was there.

This is what FK Love is about. We help foster children, families, and individuals in Southwest Florida when life becomes overwhelming—whether that means food, clothing, household necessities, furniture, emergency assistance, or simply connecting someone with the right person at the right time.

We couldn’t do any of it alone.

FK Love works alongside FK Your Diet, local businesses, donors, volunteers, customers, and people throughout our community who continually answer the call when someone needs help.

People helping people. That’s what community is all about.
